Why I started this business

Reader, for the past few days, I’ve been trying to find the words to say to you.

What do you say when your heart is heavy?

What do you say when there is so much hatred and cruelty being spewed across the internet?

After praying and reflecting, I felt led to say what I would want someone to say to me during times like this.

As a follower of Jesus Christ AND a Black woman…

I’m tired.

I’m disappointed.

I’m angry.

And so many more emotions that I don’t quite have the words to express.

But I refuse to stay there.

These feelings have lit a fire in me to support even more mamas in building a legacy and financial stability.

And just like Jesus flipped tables, I’m ready to flip some tables, too.

And with that said, I want to share with you why I created the Mama Turned Mompreneur brand:

I was raised by a single mother. Although my dad was present in my life, my mom was solely responsible for me physically, emotionally, and financially.

I would spend every other weekend with my dad, and although my dad provided for me, everything he bought for me had to stay at his house.

Those were his rules.

It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that this was just another way for him to control my mom. Instead of partnering with her to fully support me, he forced her into a situation in which she had to work two jobs to care for me.

More often than not, I would have to go with her to her second job, which was a 5:00 - 10:00 pm shift and was in a rough neighborhood. I would hang out in the staff room, usually falling asleep on the small couch while my mom worked.

I remember several times when my mom would stop for food before heading to her second job, and she would just get me something and tell me she wasn’t hungry. I later found out that she did that because she only had enough to get me something to eat.

This is why I created the Mama Turned Mompreneur brand.

I never want any mama to endure what my mom did while raising me.

I want all mamas to make money and care for their babies without having to rely on or be at the mercy of anyone.

I want all mamas to have the financial and time freedom to homeschool their children if that’s what they feel is best for them.

I want all mamas to have a business that continues to thrive even when they can’t show up on socials or choose not to for their mental health and peace of mind.

I want all mamas to know and believe that you can be a dang good mama AND business owner - it gets to be both!

I want all mamas to have a choice, build the life they envision, and do it all in a way that fits their current season of life.

And so, Reader, if this resonates with you and this is what you desire, you are in the right community, and I can’t wait to support you...

Whether that’s through leveraging collaborations to increase your visibility and generate leads…

Whether that’s through leveraging podcasting and email marketing to attract, nurture, and convert your dream clients into your paid offers…

Or whether that’s through more individualized support with gaining clarity in your messaging and offers.

I’m here for you when you are ready!

I used to be a Starbucks girly until I discovered Coffee Bean’s Iced Chai Latte with oat milk. It honestly tastes like heaven in my mouth. I enjoyed this drink so much that I started making it part of my Sunday routine. After grabbing the groceries I needed for the week from Trader Joe's, I would stop by Coffee Bean to grab myself an Iced Chai Latte. Each time I would go to Coffee Bean to order one, regardless of who was ringing up my order, the cashier would say, “You know it doesn’t come...

Hey, Mama! “If you want to increase your visibility, post a reel every day for 30 days.” I recently saw this advice posted on Threads. While I’m not one to comment on every little thing I see in the online space… This is one of those things that I can’t help but speak up on. “If you want to increase your visibility, post a reel every day for 30 days.” I disagree. Instagram is not the only option for visibility. And as a mom of young kids, posting a reel everyday for 30 days is not realistic...

Happy Thursday, Reader! Last week, I asked you what type of email content you wanted from me. The majority of you voted for productivity hacks for actually getting work done with your kids at home. This is one question that most of my clients ask me. I debated about whether or not to give you a list of productivity hacks for working with your kids at home and decided not to. The reason is that depending on the ages of your kids, how many kids you have, what your daily routine looks like, and...
